Training Camp Topics

Monster Under the Bed – Coach Jacob Bach (Head Coach, Adventure Rock)

We all know the feeling… the moment you realize there is no going back on a move. You’ve entered the crux and the fear sets in. Whether it is the feeling of risk, the expectation of success and failure, or just the paralyzing feeling that we can’t describe. In this station you will work on tactics and mental preparation for the best way to execute during these moments. It’s time to face the monster under the bed.

Optimal Technique and Trust – Coach Alex Nero (Head Coach, First Ascent Arlington Heights)

The mind is the place where all challenges begin. It is the place where obstacles are overcome. Through the constant conversation with what we are born as, and what we are raised to be, we work within ourselves to surpass our previous self. This station will provide tools, and practices that highlight, and encourage our innate potentials for improvement, calmness in discomfort, and trust in yourself.

Breaking Barriers – Coach Adam Lockhart (Assistant Head Coach, Planet Rock)

What does it take to truly compete on the next level? Do you have the ability to put yourself into the situations that will help you grow? Do you run away from discomfort? Do you have a true belief in yourself? Coach Adam will be working with climbers to help start their path on becoming the elevated climber they have been working to become.

Learning Through Your Warmup – Coach Spencer Irish (Assistant Head Coach, First Ascent Arlington Heights)

Rushing your warmup is one of the classic failures of any competitor. Showing up and just “going through the motions” of all the easy climbs is easy. Learning from the first moment you get on the wall is the master’s approach to being a great competition climber. In this station Coach Spencer will be helping climbers ask the tough questions and truly dial in their warm up to help prepare them at the highest level of competition.
