First Ascent Peoria will be hosting the
2022 USA Climbing Youth Rope Championship
Region 61
April 9-10, 2022
We are ecstatic to host the 2022 Regional Championship at First Ascent Peoria! Over 150 youth from 6 states will compete in hopes of progressing to the Divisional Championship in Bloomington, MN — where they could then earn a bid to the National Competition.
Many of the nation’s top athletes in climbing, including World Champions and Olympians, have progressed through the USAC youth climbing program to ultimately compete against the world’s top climbers. Hosting this type of competition is an exciting way for the Peoria climbing community to support competitors that may one day represent the US in international level competition.
The following closures will be in effect as we prepare for and host the competition:
Monday, April 4 – Friday, April 8: Large portions of the roped climbing area will be closed for competition setting. Access to mezzanine climbs, bouldering, yoga, and fitness equipment will not be affected.
Saturday, April 9 – Sunday, April 10: Facility closed to all non-competition related activities — this includes access to climbing, fitness equipment, yoga classes, and youth classes for all members and guests.
